The Black Genius Framework is an evidence-based, community-driven approach to creating learning environments where students thrive. Developed through collaboration with Black parents and validated in real school settings, this framework moves beyond traditional interventions that focus on changing students to instead change educational environments themselves.
This paper outlines the six elements parents identified as essential for culturally affirming education: Interest Awareness, Can-Do Attitude, Multicultural Navigation, Racial Identity, Selective Trust, and Social Justice. Each element provides educators with strategies to reduce psychological harm while affirming the genius of every student in their classroom.
