The Wisdom Hub is where parent wisdom meets learning. It’s the only library of community-driven resources for affirming classroom and community learning. Inside, you’ll find lesson plans, toolkits, and activities organized by grade, subject, and objective.
Communities are the architects of knowledge and affirmation for our children. Every resource in the Wisdom Hub has been shaped by parent wisdom to support families and educators. Some directly. Others in partnership with educators. Many are validated through our parent-led review process, where parents evaluate each tool based on identity, trust, and belonging.
This is learning rooted in parent wisdom, tested through lived experiences, and designed to help you create affirming environments for children.
Whether you’re a teacher ready to create culturally affirming instruction or a parent supporting learning at home, The Wisdom Hub puts effective, research-based, unapologetically affirming tools in your hands.
The Wisdom Hub began with a simple question:
To answer this question, Dr. Amber Majors Ladipo invited nine parent partners to develop review criteria. Village of Wisdom trained them in Community Driven Research and Design, Liberatory Design, and Equity Centered Community Design.
Over two months, these parent partners brought together 25 parents from across the country for honest conversations about what they needed to support their children’s learning.
The findings were clear. Parents relied heavily on digital resources and community networks but felt isolated in their search for quality materials. They wanted resources that affirmed their children’s identity and supported positive development and belonging.
For the next three years, parent partners created and reviewed lesson plans, activities, and toolkits to create The Wisdom Hub.
The Wisdom Hub gives you access to the wisdom of Black families—families who refuse to accept anything less than affirming, joyful learning for their children. This is knowledge you can trust because it comes from the people who know our children best.
Since 2014, Village of Wisdom has partnered with Black families and communities to develop educational tools and resources that honor the cultural knowledge parents bring to their children’s education. Our approach recognizes parents as their children’s first teachers and cultural experts whose insights are essential for creating learning environments where children thrive.
When parent wisdom shapes educational practice, learning becomes more meaningful, engaging, and effective for students. By centering family knowledge in the creation of learning resources, we’re building a bridge between home and school that honors the richness of every child’s community while supporting families and educators.
